What does summer AC maintenance include?

How often should the AC be serviced?

Your air filters should be changed 4 times yearly at a minimum, to keep your system efficient and improve your home’s air quality. Maintenance at this regular interval will also allow us to get ahead of common problems that could cause a loss of cooling when it’s needed the most.

Is air conditioner deep cleaning a part of maintenance?

Dirty coils or condenser fins significantly impact your unit's ability to cool. When air cannot move through the system inside or out, your unit is not cooling at its maximum capacity and may be increasing your energy consumption.

Each time we inspect a system, we’ll check the indoor evaporator coil and outdoor condenser unit to see if it’s dirty. Deep cleaning is part of regular maintenance and is something we check every time.

Is refrigerant change part of regular AC maintenance?

In order to verify that your system has the right amount of refrigerant, we’ll check refrigerant levels and system pressure as part of every inspection.

Too much or too little refrigerant can cause major problems. Our expertise allows us to determine the right amount of charge (refrigerant) in your system so that it’s performing optimally.

Are dirty coils common?

Yes. particularly if air filters are not changed often enough. Just as air filters reduce dust in your home, a clean filter will keep dust from collecting on your AC coil. Dirty coils lead to problems with proper cooling.

We clean your evaporator coils as part of every maintenance inspection. How frequently your evaporator coil needs to be cleaned is largely a question of how often your air filters are changed and whether or not your system has an additional air cleaner. Expect a dirty coil once or twice per year.

Will a HEPA filter stop dust from building up?

The indoor air quality in your home or office can be five times more polluted than the outdoor air, primarily because indoor air is not properly sanitized. There are added contaminants that are simply not filtered out of the air or removed from surfaces, which instead accumulate over time. This happens because bacteria, viruses, mold spores, and other toxins are too small to be stopped by traditional air filters, and some can even pass through a HEPA filter.

For superior air cleaning, we can recommend whole-home UV HVAC solutions that will help keep your home’s air cleaner and prevent dust build-up on your evaporator coil.
